ZEIGLER – A Zeigler woman was cited Thursday for Arson, Aggravated Arson and Criminal Damage to Property in connection with a fire that destroyed an outbuilding and for a suspected arson at her home three weeks ago.
Zeigler Police say Amber L. Sanders was lodged in the Franklin County Jail awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing that was scheduled for Friday.
Zeigler Fire responded to the fire at the outbuilding on School Street at 2 p.m. Thursday. It was quickly extinguished. The outbuilding was a total loss.
During the initial investigation, nearby residents and passersby provided information leading Zeigler Police to request the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Police and a special agent from the State Fire Marshal’s office interviewed Sanders about Thursday’s fire and the one three weeks ago at her home one block over.
She was then cited for the offenses we mentioned and taken to jail.
