HERRIN – Stephanie Lynn Smith Pasquino, 58, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away peacefully Friday January 24, 2025, in her residence at 3:50 p.m, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Stephanie was born November 7, 1966, in Herrin, Illinois, to Sheralyn (Walker) Smith. She was the oldest of four children.
Stephanie was a member of the Marion Legion Auxiliary, Herrin Elks, Herrin Bocce Ball Bar League, and a previous member of the W.F. Moose Lodge. Stephanie was also a Kentucky Colonel. She was also connected with multiple physician assistant and dermatology groups. She received her LPN and RN degrees after graduating with the FCHS class of 1984. She began working for Dr. Ted Van Acker as his head RN in 1996 when he opened his practice in Herrin, Illinois. Stephanie attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, and received her physician assistant degree in 2003. She continued working as a Dermatology PA for Southern Illinois Dermatology until her cancer diagnosis.
Stephanie was full of love, laughter, and resilience. She touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, Frank Pasquino, whom she married on March 29, 2024; son, Jake Natyshok (Marissa Russell); sister, Andrea (Doug) Woolard; brothers, Jeff (Teresa) Earl and Greg (Kim) Earl; special niece, Alex Winch; and great nephew, Alistair Winch; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous close friends especially Jackie Brown, Greta Browning, Melody Hof, Lara McRoy-Newton and the Card Night Crew. We would also like to thank Hospice of Southern Illinois for their excellent care.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois, with Father Mark Reyling officiating. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorials may be made in Stephanie’s memory to the family to cover medical expenses.
