Mt. Vernon Man Gets 20 Years in Prison for Armed Violence

MT. VERNON – A Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in Jefferson County Court to charges of Armed Habitual Offender and Armed Violence in reference to an armed violence arrest in late December in the 21000 block of North Tolle Lane in Texico.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, other charges against 48-year-old Michael Glenn Jr. were dismissed Thursday as a result of the plea. Judge Jerry Crisel accepted the plea and sentenced Glenn Jr. to his prison term. 

The sheriff’s office received a call for service from the North Tolle Lane address involving an alleged violation of an active order of protection around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.

Deputies arrived, spoke to the residents and located the suspect, Glenn Jr.

As Glenn Jr. was taken into custody, evidence of other criminal activity was located on his person. He was arrested for Violating the Order of Protection, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Meth under 5 grams, and Armed Violence. He was taken to and lodged in the Jefferson County Jail to await his pretrial detention hearing.
