MARION – Work is now underway to revitalize the Midway Court neighborhood in Marion.
The revitalization project is a collaborative effort between the City of Marion and the Marion Unit 2 School District that involves students from Marion High School’s building trades program.
This project will give students invaluable hands-on experience by building two new homes.
This initiative not only provides students with practical skills but also allows them to contribute meaningfully to their community’s future.
Midway Court was originally constructed over 80 years ago to house workers from the ordinance plant during World War II.
Midway Court’s revitalization is part of a broader strategy throughout Marion to increase the number of housing units to support Marion’s growing workforce.
With several hundred new jobs added in the last few years and with more than 1,000 jobs expected to be added with the STAR Bond project, the need for additional options for workers is needed. This project plays a crucial role in revitalizing a neighborhood and helping support workers in Marion’s growing landscape.
