Donald “Donnie” Ray Deen

BROUGHTON – Donald “Donnie” Ray Deen, age 80 a resident of Broughton, IL, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Donnie was born in Walpole, IL, on Nov. 10, 1944; a son of John Kent Deen and Ruth Grace (Williams) Deen. 

Donnie was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in McLeansboro, IL. He enjoyed watching old westerns, shooting baskets, raising chickens and watching the Cardinals. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grand and great-grandchildren play sports. Donnie was a member of the McLeansboro Masonic Lodge, Polk #137 AF&AM.

Survivors include his daughters, Denise Deen-Armstrong and husband, Brandon, of Dardenne Prairie, MO and Deborah Vaughan and husband, Bret, of McLeansboro, IL, and his son, Daron Deen and wife, Jen, of Imperial, MO.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Austyn Kloth, Afton Downen and husband Jeremy, Rhet Vaughan and wife Christy, Grace Deen and Sam Deen; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Mahan, J.J. Mahan, Daisy Downen, Brinley Downen, Rhema Vaughan and Sagan Vaughan; and his sisters, Mary Tice of Mt. Vernon, IL and Beverly York of Fairfield, IL.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Jim and Frank Deen.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the funeral service at noon. Pastor Randall Ragan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hebron Cemetery in Broughton, IL.

Memorials may be given to the Hebron Cemetery Fund.

The Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
