Stop Sticks Used to Stop Vehicle Fleeing from Colp Traffic Stop, Two Arrested

COLP – Two people are facing multiple citations including one for possessing meth following a traffic stop that involved deputies using stop sticks around 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 22 in Colp.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were on a special patrol detail in Colp when they saw at the intersection of Andrew Springs Road and Attucks Street a vehicle going west without its lights on.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and as they approached it, the vehicle fled. Other deputies in the area put down stop sticks successfully causing the vehicle’s tires to deflate in order for it to stop. 

The driver, Misty D. Maze, and her passenger, Christopher S. Gibson, refused to get out of the vehicle. They were removed by deputies and taken into custody. Gibson kicked deputies in an attempt to escape while being taken into custody.

Deputies located drug paraphernalia and meth inside the vehicle along with schedule 2 narcotics on Maze’s person.

Maze was cited for Methamphetamine Possession, Possession of a Controlled Substance along with motor vehicle and traffic violations. Gibson was cited for Methamphetamine Possession, Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officers.

They were lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
