BELLE RIVE – Carolyn Ann Rubenacker, age 75, of Belle Rive passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Stonebridge Memory Care in Mt. Vernon.
Carolyn was born on August 14, 1949, in McLeansboro. She was a daughter of Frank Guage and Veneda Genevieve Grimes Guage. Carolyn married Gerald Rubenacker on December 27, 1971, in Dahlgren. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education at SIU Carbondale. Carolyn taught at Knights Prairie and Dahlgren for 35 years. She liked league bowling, playing bunco and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Carrie Downen and husband Shayne, of Dahlgren and Kendra Rubenacker of Dahlgren; grandchildren, Austyn and Sydney Downen and Trenton and Carol Ann Rubenacker, her brothers, Keith Guage of Dahlgren, Herbert Guage and wife Bev of McLeansboro and Lewis Guage and wife Paula of Dahlgren. Also surviving are her sisters, Kay Lowery and companion Donald Kennedy of Dahlgren and Judy Hastings and husband Gale of Dahlgren. Several nieces and nephews also survive including a special niece, Mellisa Hargrave, who cared for Carolyn for many years, and her lifelong friend, Catherine Ferrari.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Gerald.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren. The funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with Pastor John Hefner officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Dahlgren.
Memorials may be given to Bethel Cemetery Fund or Alzheimer’s Association and collected at the funeral home.
