MCLEANSBORO – Mechtilda Marie “Tillie” Kaufman, age 97, of McLeansboro passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Silver Fox Nursing Home in McLeansboro.
Tillie was born August 13, 1927, in Piopolis; a daughter of Joseph A. Kaufman and Magdalena Kaufman. She worked at Elder Manufacturing as a seamstress for 30 years. Tillie was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Piopolis.
Survivors include nephews, Brad Kaufman of Mt. Vernon and John Kaufman and wife Jennifer of Yorkville, IL; and nieces, Theresa Schlosser and husband Michael of Peoria, IL and Patricia McMullen of Peoria, IL. Also surviving are great-nephews and nieces, Tommy Kaufman of Yorkville, IL, Rebecca Schlosser, Nathaniel Schlosser, Mary Ellen McMullen, Lucy McMullen, Michael Kaufman, Steven Kaufman and Anthony Kaufman. Several great-great-nephews and nieces also survive.
Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, James, Otto and Francis Kaufman; and a sister, Pauline Kaufman.
Visitation for Tillie Kaufman will be Monday, February 17, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.
The church will open at 8:30 a.m. for visitation, with the Rosary at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass.
Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery in Piopolis.
The Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
