CARMI – A vehicle being towed caught fire Thursday on Epworth Road at Illinois 141 in White County.
White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss says a call came into dispatch about the vehicle fire. Deputies and the Carmi Fire Department responded to the scene.
When they arrived, it was determined that a separate vehicle was broken down on the side of the road and another motorist stopped to help. The second motorist was towing a vehicle on a car trailer. While the second vehicle was helping, the vehicle being towed caught fire. Carmi Fire was able to extinguish the fire before further damage was done.
