MT. VERNON – A Mt. Vernon man arrested last week on a Jefferson County warrant charging Possession of Child Pornography appeared for his detention hearing Tuesday in Jefferson County Court.
Online court records show 21-year-old Dakota R. Martin will have a motion hearing and a preliminary hearing next Tuesday at 2 p.m. The state’s petition to deny pre-trial release for Martin was heard and granted.
The warrant and resulting arrest were a result of a sheriff’s office investigation, initiated by a cybertip received through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Nov. 21 of last year.
The tip led to further investigation, which resulted in multiple search warrants for social media and internet records.
A search warrant was also obtained for Martin’s home in Mt. Vernon. It was served on Jan. 29. Electronic devices were collected for further examination.
