Jimmie Ray Harrelson

MACEDONIA – Jimmie Ray Harrelson, 85, of Macedonia passed away at 3:40 a.m., Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Silver Foxes Senior Living and Rehab in McLeansboro.

He was born October 14, 1939; the son Gail W. Harrelson and Mabel (Clark) Harrelson. He married Anna Mae Darnell on October 11, 1958, in Macedonia.

Jimmie is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Billington ad husband Ralph, of McLeansboro and Tonya Spicuzza and husband Charles, of Dahlgren. He had six grandkids, Justin Billington and wife Cindy, Amanda Bullard and husband Brandon, Ralph Landon Billington and wife Laney, Tatum Michel and husband Skyler, Taylee Turrentine and husband Kaelin, Tanner Spicuzza and wife Alyssa; and 12 great-grandkids, Jaelyn Bullard, Bennett Bullard, Logan Billington, Kate Steele and husband Levi, Sarah Billington and fiancé Parker Williams, Issac Billington, Sawyer Michel, Slater Michel, Kale Turrentine, Korbin Turrentine, Trey Spicuzza and Teigan Spicuzza. Several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews also survive.

Jim enjoyed horseback riding, boating, go carts, camping and horse races. His most favorite hobby was bird hunting with family and friends with his special dog, Star.

Jim worked at Progress in Arthur, IL, for 15 years and Tubloc in Mattoon, IL, for five years. He retired from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department in McLeansboro after 19 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Jadie Ann Billington; a brother, Bill Gail Harrelson; sister Eva Margaret Rodgers, and a brother-in-law, Edgar Rodgers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Webb officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Macedonia, IL.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
