Twenty-four-year-old Johnathan L. Ames-Bourn is lodged in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting his pre-trial detention hearing.

Deputies responded to the scene and learned Ames-Bourn had already left driving a silver Toyota Corolla. EMS arrived to evaluate the victim who didn’t require treatment.

A deputy en route to the scene spotted Ames-Bourn leaving the Casey’s parking lot at Salem Road and George Street in Mt. Vernon going east on George Street. The deputy got behind Ames-Bourn’s vehicle and stopped him on North Pumphouse Road near North Morton Lane.

Mt. Vernon Police brought in an armored BearCat to assist with the traffic stop. After it got there, Ames-Bourn tried to leave ramming the BearCat which caused serious damage to his car and slight damage to the BearCat.

Officers assisting at the scene were able to pin Ames-Bourn’s vehicle in to prevent him from leaving. After a few minutes of commands, Ames-Bourn surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

A search of the Corolla revealed additional evidence.

No officers were injured during the arrest.
