CALVIN – A Carmi man lost his life in an oil field accident Monday in White County.
White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss says deputies along with Crossville Fire and White County EMS responded to a fire in the Calvin area with a possible deceased person.
After arriving to the scene, a man was found dead in the fire by a pumping unit via a drone.
After the fire was contained, deputies and the White County Coroner’s office began their investigation which determined this was an oil field accident.
The man found dead was Donald Sims of Carmi. He worked for Cantrell Oil Company. Sims was identified by a wallet found near a truck.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
