Williamson County Sheriff Seeking Whereabouts of Wanted Fugitive

MARION – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for a man who did not report back to jail Sunday afternoon after being granted a motion in Williamson County Court last week authorizing furlough to spend time with a terminally ill family member under hospice care.

The court Wednesday granted furlough to Doniel J. McKenzie authorizing his release from jail Thursday at 4 p.m. to Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. He didn’t return and subsequent attempts to locate him have discovered that he has removed his electronic ankle monitoring device and is fleeing apprehension.

McKenzie has pending cases in Williamson County for Arson, Methamphetamine Possession, and Aggravated Domestic Battery.

He is now additionally wanted for Escape in Williamson County as a result of his failure to return to jail as ordered by the court.

McKenzie has ties to Carbondale, Colp, Herrin, and the Marion area. It is believed that he may also be attempting to travel to Springfield or Decatur.
