Back on Feb. 15, deputies responded to a report of several overnight burglaries on Lady Bug Lane and Dragon Fly Lane in northwest Williamson County. Numerous stolen items were taken including firearms, clothing, personal identification, credit/debit cards, and other personal effects.
Investigators were able to recover video and other evidence which led to the identification of one of the suspects, William Alexander Reed of Carterville.
Reed was previously charged for Theft $500-$10,000, a Class 3 Felony, in Williamson County on Oct.18 of last year but was pretrial released pursuant to the Safe-T Act.
Deputies went to the 100 block of California Street in Carterville at noon Tuesday in an attempt to find Reed. Deputies saw and recovered an unoccupied vehicle which had been stolen from Marion earlier that day. The vehicle was parked near Reed’s home.
Investigators later returned to the California Street home and found several people in another vehicle, believed to include Reed, had arrived. Investigators got permission from the homeowner to search the home for Reed. They found Reed hiding in a bathroom shower.
Reed was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant for Burglary out of Jackson County. While in the home, investigators observed stolen property. The home was secured and investigators obtained a search warrant.
Sheriff’s investigators executed a search warrant at 6 p.m. at the home and recovered a significant amount of stolen property including firearms, computers, personal identification, credit/debit cards, and other personal belongings. These items are identifiable to burglaries occurring in some cases as recently as the same day.
Investigators also recovered drugs, drug paraphernalia, hypodermic syringes, and digital scales.
An initial assessment of the stolen property leads investigators to believe that the stolen items recovered from this home have, or will, result in the closure of nearly a dozen open burglary cases across Williamson County.
Reed was taken to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
Reed, along with two other suspects, used a stolen credit/debit card at the Raawi’s General Store convenience store in Carterville on Feb. 15. Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying these two additional suspects which were captured by security cameras.

The sheriff’s office says additional charges are anticipated.
