Juvenile Injured in Monday Night Shooting in Du Quoin, Police Investigating

DU QUOIN – Du Quoin Police were called out to Casey’s General Store on North Hickory Street around 8:20 Monday night to investigate a shooting in that area.

Police received information that a male victim had entered Casey’s and requested help. It was also reported that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police along with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police began their investigation and determined the victim, a male juvenile from Du Quoin, had left the area and was later found at Marshall Browning Hospital.

Police say the shooting happened in the alley directly behind Casey’s. ISP Crime Scene Investigators were called in to process the area for evidence.

Investigators do not believe that this was a random act. No other information is being released at this time.
