ZEIGLER – A Christopher man is lodged in the Franklin County Jail for allegedly breaking into Zeigler-Royalton High School and stealing items from the school late Sunday night.
Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says 31-year-old Steven J. Godfrey is charged with Theft, Burglary, Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property, Criminal Damage to State Supported Property and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Just after 11 p.m. the sheriff’s office was notified of a potential burglary occurring at Zeigler-Royalton High School. Deputies along with Zeigler Police officers responded.
After arriving Zeigler officers saw Godfrey walking out of the school. He fled on foot. Deputies and Zeigler officers caught Godfrey and took him into custody.
