Carbondale Community Housing Names Its First Executive Director

CARBONDALE – Carbondale Community Housing, Not-For-Profit, Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of its’ first executive director. LeeAnna Meadows of Paducah, Kentucky, was chosen following an extensive search and review of applications by the board’s hiring committee.  

Meadows is the former executive director of a national organization of privately owned companies dedicated to providing high quality, community-based support to people with varying support needs. She previously held positions as Housing Manager, Director of Housing, and Vice President for several different community, medical and mental health services throughout Kentucky and Illinois. 

She was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Human Development Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Murray State University. Meadows says of her new role, “I am passionate about furthering the mission of bringing affordable, efficient, & beautiful homes to the city of Carbondale. I am honored to serve in this capacity and look forward to the opportunity to work closely with the community.”  

Carbondale Community Housing, NFP, is a not-for-profit corporation under Illinois law, founded by the Carbondale, Illinois City Council to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing that is affordable to low and moderate-income people and to provide services that empower individuals and families to secure and retain quality housing. The corporation has been charged with developing and administering programs that revitalize neighborhoods and increase and preserve affordable housing options within the City of Carbondale. Projects contemplated include purchasing, demolition, development and rehabilitation of properties; grant writing and administration of grants; rental and sale of properties; new construction; rental property management and holding land. Board members were appointed by the mayor and approved by the City Council.
