Preliminary Hearings Set for Three Charged in Mt. Vernon Man’s Murder

MT. VERNON – Preliminary hearings were set Wednesday in Jefferson County Court for three people charged with murder in the death of 57-year-old Patrick Williamson of Mt. Vernon early Monday morning.

Online court records show 60-year-old Laura Lee Beneway of Bonnie and 67-year-old Eddie G. Bennett of Mt. Vernon will have their motion and preliminary hearings Tuesday at 9 a.m. Their pre-trial release was denied. A petition to revoke probation for Beneway in a separate case is also set for arraignment Tuesday.

As for 66-year-old Peter M. Harris of Mt. Vernon, he will have his preliminary hearing on Thursday, April 3 at 9 a.m. Pre-trial release was denied.

All three face multiple counts of First-degree Murder related to a robbery.

Police found Williamson just after 5 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of South 15th Street.

Two suspects were arrested Monday and a third was taken into custody Monday night by a High-Risk Team.

Charges were filed by the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office following the investigation.

According to our sister station WMIX in Mt. Vernon, Williamson worked as a car salesman at Monken Toyota.
