Sunday Night’s Tornado in Alexander, Pulaski County Rated as EF-1

PADUCAH – The National Weather Service in Paducah says an EF-1 tornado did not cause any injuries or deaths as it traveled through Alexander and Pulaski County Sunday night.

The tornado had estimated peak winds of 105 mph and traveled just over 18 miles. Its path width was 150 yards.

The tornado started at 6:05 p.m. near the Mississippi River at Commerce, MO, moving quickly east northeast. Numerous trees were uprooted or had their trunks snapped. A few buildings sustained roof damage.

A very large area of 70 to 90 mph straight line winds swept just south of the tornado and eventually overtook it as it moved into the New Grand Chain area where damage consistent with 75 to 90 mph straight line winds continued sporadically into western Massac County.

The tornado ended at 6:20 p.m. 3 miles east southeast of Ullin in Pulaski County.
