Applications Open for City of Carbondale’s 2025 Summer Internship Program

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale is currently seeking applicants for the 2025 City of Carbondale Summer Internship Program. The Summer Internship Program invites a cohort of students from Carbondale Community High School to participate in an eight-week program from June 2 to July 25.

Selected students will gain transferable work skills through everyday tasks, while assisting on larger projects determined by each department. Each week, students will participate in a lunch and learn program in which they will meet community members that will speak on a variety of topics ranging from civic engagement to financial planning.

Eligible students must be 16 years of age by the starting date of the program. Eligible students must be current students or graduating seniors from Carbondale Community High School. Selected students will participate in an orientation and onboarding meeting on Thursday, May 29 at which they will meet with Mayor Harvey, city leaders, and members of their cohort. Internship opportunities range from 10 to 20 hours of work per week for a total of eight weeks. Students will earn $16 per hour. The application deadline is Friday, April 25. To apply click here.
