JOHNSTON CITY – Janet Lynn Rinkus, 63, of Johnston City, Illinois, passed away Saturday April 12, 2025, at her daughter’s home at 12:31 a.m.
Janet was born September 8, 1961, in Illinois to J.C. and Dolores (Cherepski) Simmons. She was of the Catholic faith. Janet loved flowers, music, pool parties, crafting and painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Zachary Bryan; grandparents, Alex and Birdie Cherepski; and step-father, Dale Bates.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Stephanie (John) Wilkins and Erin Julian; sister, Karen Lenzini; brother, Jamie Simmons; and grandchildren, Hailey Bryan and Micah Julian.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois, with Rev. Dr. Eusebius Mbidoaka officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
