Phyllis Jean Bond

MCLEANSBORO – Phyllis Jean Bond, of McLeansboro, IL, passed away on August 14 at her son’s home, surrounded by family.

Phyllis was born Oct. 5, 1935, to John R. Lee Sr. & Flossie Lee, the 7th of 12 children. She married Obe Bond on Aug. 14, 1954. To Obe and Phyllis were born four sons. Phyllis loved life, family, church, and her Lord. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and will be missed by all. Phyllis put her all into everything she did. Whether it was homemaking, gardening, flowers, caregiving, or church, Phyllis did it to the best of her ability. She enjoyed keeping up with her children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren.

Phyllis loved going to church. Jesus made a difference in her life, and she wanted everybody to come to know Him. Phyllis attended the Dale Pentecost Church.

Phyllis is survived by three sons, Gregory & wife Karol of Manchester, MO; Geoffrey and wife Glenda of Macedonia; & Gerry and wife Retha of McLeansboro; 12 grandchildren, & 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Laura Irvin of Carterville (husband Robert deceased and Marilyn Smith, McLeansboro; Brothers Robert Lee (wife Joyce), Dahlgren; Doyle Lee, St. Louis, MO (wife Pat deceased); and David Lee (wife Karla) of O’Fallon, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Obe; infant son, Gerome Bond; her brothers, Emerson Lee (wife Delores) John Lee, Jr. (wife Wanda), Roy Lee (wife Minnie), Donald Lee (wife Ralphene); sisters, Reva Phillips (husband Paul), and Wanda Dennis (husband Morris).

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL, and the Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2024, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, IL. Burial will be in the Hickory Hill Cemetery, Walpole, IL. Services will be officiated by her sons, Geoffrey, Gregory, and Gerry.

Memorials are requested to Altar Life Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
