Possible Threat to NCOE School District Deemed Not Viable

NORRIS CITY – Schools in the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield School District, with the exception of the high school, were put on “Secure” Tuesday morning after getting word from White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss that he received information regarding a concerning statement made by a minor on social media that could potentially affect the schools.

The schools were put on “Secure” until the situation was resolved. The high school was not placed on “Secure” because the situation was addressed quickly, and by the time the school’s principal was notified, the situation was resolved.

The White County Sheriff Office, Norris City Police, and the NCOE School Resource Officer thoroughly investigated the situation and it was not deemed a viable threat.

As always, student and staff safety is the district’s top priority and will take all necessary precautions. As with all school safety issues, the district investigates and works closely with local law enforcement to address and report any threat to school safety.
