WEST FRANKFORT – Janice Lee (Overturf) Layne, 67, of West Frankfort, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center, formerly Heartland Regional Medical Center, in Marion.
She was born on October 29, 1956, in Christopher to Carl and LaVaughn (Talley) Overturf. She married Terry Layne on August 25, 2018, and he survives of West Frankfort. She is also survived by her daughter, Michelle (Gary) VanHoorebeke of Benton; granddaughters, Sydney VanHoorebeke, Emily VanHoorebeke, and Macy VanHoorebeke, one brother, Dennis (Karen) Overturf of Springfield, IL; and one sister-in-law, Rita Overturf of Buckner. She was preceded in death by her parents, one step-son, Terry “TJ” Layne; one sister, Karen Overturf; and one brother, Jerry Overturf.
Janice was the former owner of the City Limits Lounge in Benton before becoming a Cook at the Christopher School District.
Funeral services for Janice will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at noon, at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Rev. Donnie Colson officiating.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Knight Cemetery in Buckner.
