METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.
On Sept. 9, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at the Fort Massac Campgrounds. Upon speaking with park officials, officers were advised that they wanted Mathew E. Stevens, 40, of Brookport removed from the park due to him being disorderly. A computer check revealed that Stevens was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Jackson County, IL, to revoke probation. Stevens was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On Sept. 10, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the Superbowl bowling alley for a disturbance. The investigation led to the arrest of Jeffery T. Lynch, 33, of Metropolis. Lynch was charged with Criminal Sexual Assault and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Due to the nature of the crime, and for privacy concerns for the victim, no further information is being released. Lynch was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On Sept. 10, 2024, Metropolis officers responded with EMS to the Baymont Hotel. The caller stated that they had an unresponsive male in a room. Upon arrival, officers determined that the subject, Michael P. Lucas, 48, of Paducah, KY, was just sleeping. A computer check revealed that he was wanted on two warrants. One warrant issued by Massac County for Petition to Revoke Probation-Possession of a Controlled Substance and one from McCracken County, KY, for Contempt of Court. Lucas was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On Sept. 12, 2024, Metropolis officers responded to a 911 call of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 700 block of East 12 Street. The victim and Cleyon R. Tanner, 47, of Metropolis denied that anything was wrong. As the officers were leaving, an officer observed Tanner grab the victim by the hair and punch her in the mouth with a fist. Tanner was then arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On Sept. 15, 2024, a Metropolis sergeant stopped a red Camaro for failure to stop at a red light before turning right on 5th and Ferry Street. A computer check on the driver, Jackie G. Miller, 63, of Brookport revealed that his driver’s license was revoked. Miller was charged and released on a notice to appear.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
