Illinois State Police Arrests Wife of Judge for Murder

ALBION – Illinois State Police have arrested 44-year-old Megan S. Valentine of Albion in connection with the fatal shooting Tuesday of her husband Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Valentine.

Megan Valentine is charged with First-degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Domestic Battery. She is being held in the White County Jail.

Around 12:15 Tuesday afternoon, the Edwards County Sherriff’s Office responded to a home in the 1100 block of County Road 600 in Albion. Upon arrival, a deputy saw Michael Valentine’s body lying outside the home. Megan Valentine was taken into custody. The sheriff’s office requested ISP lead the investigation.

After a thorough investigation, ISP agents Thursday presented their case to the Illinois State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor’s Office and the charges we mentioned earlier were filed.

According to online court records, Megan Valentine is set to make her first appearance by video in Edwards County Court this morning.
