Rail Traffic Resumes Following Friday’s Coal Train Derailment in Williamson County

THOMPSONVILLE – The Canadian National Railway says the railroad track involved in Friday morning’s derailment of 19 coal cars southeast of Thompsonville reopened to rail traffic around 10:30 Saturday night. That’s according to CN spokesperson Jeffrey Price.

Price says work to remove rail cars and coal from the derailment continues.

No injuries, fires or dangerous goods were reported.

The cause is still currently under investigation.
