HARRISBURG – Saline County officials have issued a disaster declaration in response to the severe impacts of Winter Storm Blair.
The declaration, signed Monday by County Board Chairman Jay Williams, acknowledges the widespread disruptions and hazardous conditions caused by the storm, which has brought heavy snow, ice accumulation, power outages, and dangerous travel conditions to the region.
“This declaration allows Saline County to request additional resources and support from state and federal agencies to assist in our response and recovery efforts,” said Allan Ninness, Saline County Emergency Manager. “Winter Storm Blair has significantly impacted our community, and this declaration ensures we can take the necessary actions to protect our residents and infrastructure.”
The disaster declaration activates Saline County’s emergency plans and provides the framework for mobilizing resources and coordinating relief efforts. It also positions the county to receive assistance for public safety operations, debris removal, road clearing, and restoration of essential services.
Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary and to take precautions during this ongoing winter weather event. County officials are working closely with emergency response teams, utility providers, and state agencies to address critical needs and restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
