CARBONDALE – We are just a little over a month away from “The Coldest Night of the Year”- a fundraising campaign for the Carbondale Warming Center!
“The Coldest Night of the Year” is a fundraising campaign that takes place throughout Canada and the US on the last Saturday of February, on average a time that holds the coldest temperatures of the year. Participants form teams and fundraise for a local charity or organization- for Carbondale and the surrounding region, that organization will be the Carbondale Warming Center, which since the pandemic began has been providing 24/7 assistance to those in need, 365 days out of the year.
You can sign up to form a team, join a team, or donate today at https://cnoy.com/location/carbondale.
The event itself will take place on Feb. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carbondale Community High School. All registered teams will come together for a 2-5k walk surrounding this location, and return to a celebratory party, including a light meal and music, as the walkers return from their journey where they had time to reflect on their given circumstances in life, how it feels to face the cold of night, and come together as community can give back to their neighbors in need. The financial fundraising goal this year is $100,000.
