CARBONDALE – A crash involving a vehicle and a Jackson County Mass Transit bus happened Friday morning in the 1200 block of South Wall Street in Carbondale.
According to Carbondale Police, officers responded to the scene of the crash at 11:07 a.m. and found the roadway blocked due to the crash. An alert was sent out requesting motorists to avoid the area until the roadway could be re-opened.
During the investigation, officers learned the driver of a vehicle turned right (traveling northbound) from a private drive as the bus was traveling south in the southbound lane. While turning, the driver of the vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck the bus as it was passing.
Two passengers on the bus and both the driver and occupant of the vehicle received minor injuries as a result of the crash. One of the injured parties was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was issued a traffic citation for Improper Lane Use.
The crash remains under investigation.
