SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Terri Bryant joined two other state senators Tuesday to discuss their legislative effort to change how Illinois law enforcement can help federal authorities remove criminal illegal aliens from local communities and prioritize public safety.
Bryant says Gov JB. Pritzker’s policies make it impossible for law enforcement officers to work with ICE to deport dangerous criminals causing our own communities to be less safe. Bryant says law enforcement needs tools and support to do their jobs effectively and we must empower them to protect our families and communities.
Across Illinois, Bryant says, violent criminals, illegal immigrants convicted of felonies, are housed in our state prisons costing taxpayers millions of dollars.
She says these convicted felons have committed offenses that makes them deportable and makes it a place where the governor could cooperate with ICE.
Bryant’s remarks were in response to Gov. JB Pritzker’s opposition to the federal government’s arrest, removal, and deportation of criminal illegal aliens which is now underway.
