MARION – A man was recently cited on gun and drug-related offenses following a traffic stop in the area of Illinois 13 and 37 in Marion according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Anthony M. Shadowens was cited for Defacing Firearm – Serial Number, Possession Of Weapon by a Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Obstructing Identification and No Head Lamps When Required. He was lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
Deputies saw Shadowens driving without headlines on at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30 and pulled him over. He did not have his driver’s license but identified himself to deputies. Deputies checked Shadowens’ driver license and found that he gave a false name. Deputies were able to successfully identify Shadowens and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for Burglary in Williamson County.
Deputies went back to the vehicle and called Shadowens by his first name. He admitted giving deputies his brother’s name. Shadowens got of his vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies inventoried the vehicle and found meth, a loaded handgun and cannabis.
The serial number on the handgun had been scraped off and Shadowens is a convicted felon.
