VALIER – A man is facing drug and motor vehicle charges following a traffic stop late Thursday night in Valier.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Brian W. Miner of Valier is in the Franklin County Jail charged with Speeding, Operating a Vehicle with Expired Registration, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending.
Around 11:15 Thursday night, a deputy stopped Miner in Valier for a moving violation. The deputy detected a strong odor of raw cannabis from the vehicle. The deputy also saw an item of drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle.
As a result, a probable cause search was conducted on Miner. A vehicle search found several items of drug paraphernalia, multiple containers of suspected cannabis, and a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance that field tested positive for the presence of cocaine. Deputies also located a handgun within a bag in the vehicle.
