HERRIN – Two people were recently lodged in the Williamson County Jail following an incident at a traffic stop in Herrin.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Devante R. Taylor was cited for Driving while License Suspended and No Valid Registration while Denieshia J. Childress was cited for Obstructing a Peace Officer.
Just before 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, deputies saw no registration on the vehicle Taylor was driving. He was stopped near the intersection of West Oak Street and South 27th Street in Herrin. Taylor also had a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.
As deputies began inventory of the vehicle, Taylor’s girlfriend, Childress, arrived on scene and began yelling and screaming at deputies. Deputies told Childress several times to back away and stop obstructing the traffic stop. Deputies had to stop their inventory of the vehicle to keep Childress away. She obstructed deputies five separate times and was arrested and put in the back of a patrol vehicle.
Taylor and Childress were both taken to jail.
