Chicago Man Arrested in Connection with Recent Carbondale Shooting

CARBONDALE – A Chicago man was recently arrested in connection with a shooting that happened last Tuesday in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say 19-year-old Kionte Scott was lodged in the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm without incident. Online court records show a preliminary hearing for Scott is set for April 8 in Jackson County Court.

Police responded to the 400 block of South Lake Heights on March 11 after getting several calls from residents who heard gunshots. Police identified Scott as the suspect.

A juvenile male was found shot. He was treated by EMS personnel at the scene and didn’t need to go to the hospital.

Police found bullet strikes and damage to an unoccupied vehicle and a home which had been occupied at the time of the shooting.

Officers learned that three black males wearing dark clothing were seen fleeing westbound from the area on foot after the shooting.

Information gathered during the investigations indicates the incident resulted from a dispute between known acquaintances.
