Three Charged in Connection with Mt. Vernon Man’s Murder

MT. VERNON – Three people have been charged in connection with the death of 57-year-old Patrick Williamson of Mt. Vernon who was found murdered early Monday morning.

Mt. Vernon Police say 60-year-old Laura Lee Beneway of Bonnie along with 67-year-old Eddie G. Bennett of Mt. Vernon and 66-year-old Peter M. Harris of Mt. Vernon face multiple counts of First-degree Murder related to a robbery.

Police found Williamson just after 5 a.m. in the 600 block of South 15th Street.

Two suspects were arrested Monday and a third was taken into custody Monday night by a High-Risk Team.

Charges were filed by the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office following the investigation.

Online court records show all three will appear for their detention hearing Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. in Jefferson County Court.

According to our sister station WMIX in Mt. Vernon, Williamson worked as a car salesman at Monken Toyota.
