Jackson County State’s Attorney Marsha Cascio-Hale says Shered was found by Carbondale Police with a gunshot wound to his back, chest and side at Raawi’s General Store on March 20, 2022. Police used video surveillance and identified Moore as a person of interest in the shooting.

Marion Police stopped and detained Moore, along with a female, without incident during a traffic stop on March 23, 2022, and recovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun in Moore’s possession.

Moore and the female were taken to the Marion Police Department where post-Miranda interviews were conducted by the Carbondale Police investigators. During the interview, Moore confessed and identified the victim as Shered.

Online court records show Moore’s sentencing is set for July 1 in Jackson County Court. He faces a sentence between 31 and 85 years in prison for the attempted murder of Shered along with two counts of Aggravated Battery of a Firearm, two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The investigation was led by the Carbondale Police Department and assisted by both the Marion Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
