MCLEANSBORO – Penny Ann Hargrave, 65, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, surrounded by family at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born December 26, 1959, in Vincennes, IN. She was a daughter of Robert Glen Land and Shirley (Gardner) Land. Penny married Floyd Dale Hargrave Jr. on August 21, 1976, in Mt. Carmel, IL.
She worked at Huck’s for several years and enjoyed her customers. Her greatest passion was being a mother and even more so a Grammy. She was also very creative, loved to sew, make quilts among other crafty things. Penny attended Ten Mile Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul and spirit.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd, McLeansboro, IL; daughters, Misty Hargrave, McLeansboro, IL, and Amanda Schluessler and husband Brent, Princeton, IN; sons, Dale Hargrave, McLeansboro, IL, and Andrew Hargrave and Stephanie, High Ridge, MO.
Surviving grandchildren include Addie, Dylan, Rowan, Braden, Farrah, Levi, Audrey, Kiara, Elizabeth and River and baby girl due this summer; step-mother, Barbara Land, siblings, Debbie Ruschmeir and husband Rick and Jeff Ankenbrand and wife Claudetta. In-laws include Alex Schmidt and James Grimes and wife Lindsey.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents and an infant. Also, a grandson, Rory Newman; and siblings Steve Land, Steven Ankenbrand and Peggy Wyant.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating. Burial will be at Crest Haven Cemetery, Claremont, Illinois near Olney, Illinois.
