Carbondale Man Arrested Following Home Invasion Wednesday

CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion Carbondale Police say happened in the 400 block of West Willow Street Wednesday.

Police responded to the scene at 1:20 p.m. It was initially reported that three men had guns and were forcing their way into a home. Officers eventually learned that this incident stemmed from a dispute between acquaintances who knew each other. One of the suspects forced in a door after a confrontation. One of the suspects also inferred that he possessed a weapon, but it has not been proven to be the case at this time. The resident confronted the suspects who then fled the area. There were no injuries or property loss reported.

Officers located and arrested 32-year-old Marcus E. Matthews of Carbondale after he was identified as one of the suspects. Matthews was charged with Attempted Home Invasion and Attempted Armed Robbery.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
