MCLEANSBORO – A two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening on Illinois 14 near Ten Mile Road in Hamilton County killed two people and injured another.
According to Illinois State Police, around 5:30 p.m. one vehicle was going east on Illinois 14 and attempted to pass multiple vehicles. While passing in the westbound lane, the vehicle struck another vehicle going west. Debris from the collision caused damage to another vehicle also going west behind the vehicle that was struck.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle that caused the accident were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was airlifted to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was shut down and reopened at 11:15 p.m.
ISP says no further information is available.
