Weekend Domestic Violence Incident in Buckner Leads to Man’s Arrest

BUCKNER – A Buckner man is facing charges including Domestic Battery after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in Buckner Saturday night.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon, deputies responded around 9:40 p.m., and while they were on their way, the caller reported that the alleged suspect in the incident possessed a gun and had fired it.

Deputies requested assistance from area municipal departments and contacted EMS to stage. Illinois State Police also dispatched troopers. 

Upon arrival deputies located the involved parties and determined that the suspect was no longer in possession of the gun but had fired it at close proximity to other individuals that were on scene.

Deputies and other officers on scene began collecting information. As a result of the incident, 29-year-old Cody W. Crews of Buckner was placed under arrest and has been charged with two counts of Domestic Battery, Interference with the Reporting of Domestic Violence, and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. Additional charges are possible because of the incident.

Crews is lodged in the Franklin County Jail.
