NORRIS CITY – The Illinois State Fire Marshal is investigating a Sunday night fire at Bond’s Lumber and Hardware in Norris City.
According to the Norris City Fire Department, the call came in around 9 p.m. and firefighters responded. Several mutual aid departments also responded to help according to the Southern Illinois Fire Incidents Facebook page.
Officials say the fire began on the backside of the business. Firefighters began fighting the blaze there with some going on the inside to do the same. Firefighters inside the building were later pulled out as conditions got worse and the fire flashed over.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
